“I Shouldn’t Be Alive Today”
April 23 Daily Truth
Volume 1: From the Pit to the Promise – Spiritual Warfare Series
How many times have you looked back and whispered, “I should be dead”?
Maybe it was a car wreck you barely missed, a night that went sideways, or a moment where the darkness felt closer than your next breath.
And yet—you’re still here. Not because you were lucky, but because you were covered.
Even in your rebellion, God had angels on assignment.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Psalm 91:11 (NIV)
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
Personal Reflection
I was in my early twenties—young, wild, and blind to the war waging over my soul.
It was a typical night out… until it wasn’t.
We had just left the club, laughing, carefree, stopping to get gas in a little two-door Nissan Sentra. Tracy was in the passenger seat, Karen behind the wheel, and I was curled up in the back, ready to call it a night.
But the night had other plans.
We were followed.
Within moments, headlights became high beams. Shadows turned to threats.
And then—guns drawn.
Tracy was yanked out of the car by a man with no conscience, no mercy—just orders. Karen sat frozen, wide-eyed, staring down the barrel of death. And me?
I was locked in that backseat—body trembling, heart racing, breath caught between prayer and panic.
No way out.
No weapons.
No warning.
Just three girls, a small car, and a very real evil sent to destroy us.
But then—God.
The man didn’t know he was messing with a warrior.
Tracy, quick as fire, reached for her mace and lit him up.
What was meant to be a gang initiation—a mission to violate and kill—was dismantled by divine disruption.
We should’ve died that night.
He had the upper hand.
We had nothing but flesh and fear.
But God…
God had plans.
Plans that said not tonight.
Plans that said not them.
Plans that said this story isn’t over—it hasn’t even begun.
I wasn’t living for Him.
But He was already fighting for me.
That night could’ve been my grave.
But instead—it became the foundation of my testimony.
The enemy came to kill, steal, and destroy.
But Heaven showed up.
And Hell lost that round.
Kingdom Key
God doesn’t wait for your surrender to extend His mercy.
He’s been covering you your whole life—not because you earned it, but because He chose you.
But once you surrender… that protection becomes partnership. That mercy becomes mission.
Closing Scripture
The enemy came to kill, steal, and destroy.
But Heaven showed up.
And Hell lost that round.
“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord…”
— Isaiah 54:17
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”
— Psalm 23:4

My Prayer with You
Father,
Thank You for every time You saved us—seen and unseen.
Thank You for guarding us even in our ignorance, our rebellion, and our self-destruction.
God, we don’t want to just survive. We want to surrender.
Turn every moment we could’ve died into a mission for why we’re alive.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Not just a survivor… But the EVIDENCE
